Default Tolkano: PvP weapon skins and armour

Does anybody have any more information on this or is this another Anet bug?
It does state that the pvp skins will be unlocked when you have reward points, the question I am asking is how many reward points?

Can anybody provide a screen shot of the new costs with Z Coins, since I have been hoarding them in the hope that the update will allow this.

Another thing is with HB gone the only the way I know that reward points will be rewarded is through GvG and possibly Codec Arena.

All I am saying is that its a bit unfair due to my guild is a pve guild and I would like to to have some elite pvp unlock on my PvP characters when I roll for the odd PvP.

To give you an idea of how much you need to pay up, to upgrade to a full set of kurzick 1.5k armor you will need 120 silver zcoins or 60 reward points. To upgrade to a full set of elite kurzick armor you would need 45 gold zcoins or 225 reward points.

Sadly the only way you can get your hands on reward points now is by taking part in GvG Automated Tournaments. Which isn't exactly casual, i barely have time to play for 2 hours a day, let alone sit through a whole AT. The zcoins on the other hand are easier to get playing casually, although it will probably take you a long time to buy a full set of elite armor.

Hence why bringing the XTH back will massively help casual gamers who want to deck out there pvp characters.

120 silver = 12 gold = 12 keys
60 rps = 12 keys

So this looks balanced, until you consider that coins can still buy bags which command more price, but meh.

sorry for my ignorance: are all skins now unlocked permanently once bought, or do you have to buy them again?

@Aljasha - " The armors and weapons are character based. If you delete the character, the armor and weapons will be gone. It is possible to transfer the weapons from one PvP character to another by putting the weapons on your heroes."

Yes, rewarding stuff with z-coins was confirmed to be bugged by Regina in the main update thread. She says it will be fixed sometime today.

120 silver = 12 gold = 12 keys is probably not considered as the best deal, so you can't really rely on that

I don't think Darcy answered you correctly.

Say you have a PvP Ele, you unlock 10 low tier weapons. You need to unlock a total of 50(?) to get to the next tier. So you should now only have to unlock 40.

If you delete that PvP Ele and decide to make a PvP Mes and unlock weapons, you will be at your previous unlock number of 40.

The unlocking is account based, such as unlocking skills for your account.

Tolkano is in pvp, but therefore for pvp players. The armor/skins are great for pvp players.

The update is, therefore, a let-down for pve players, who have already got the heavy packs they need, and would like to spend their z-coins on something more meaningful than elite tomes/everlasting fireworks.

Anet needs to figure out how pve players can redeem the gold-coins in a unique format, not available to pvp players. Because, that is how the system is right now, and its not fair, tbh...

thanks for answering my question. so the system itself remains unchanged, but the costs are reduced (what was told).

it would be awesome if the costs would have been increased and the skins unlocked(not just the tier) for all characters. maybe we'll get that if gw2 comes closer to release (remember the all gear unlock).

The skins are unlocked for all characters, skins and tiers.

The only thing (I guess you were asking) is if I bought a voltaic spear on my warrior, and wanted one on my monk, I'd have to buy another voltaic spear.

That's it really. And tbh, 30 Reward points is not alot for a spear that goes for 100k+xx (30 reward pts = 6 zkeys @ 4k each). Not to mention the ability to infinitely mod it and change its color.

So in this case I can buy assassin armor and if I should change professions, I can make another assassin later and still be able to select it?

Good thing I didn't change my silver to gold.
358 silver coins and so many things to buy.

I'm not seeing a drastic reduction in rp's needed anywhere. You still have to unlock 50 basics armors to access the fancies. Seems they have been reduced from 20 rp's to 18 rp's or 36 silver zcoins for basic armor unlocks, but this is still unobtainable for 99.9 % of the GW population so you need 1800 silver or 180 gold zcoins to even look at the vabian/kurzick/fow unlocks. This is update is not helping anyone unlock squat, there is no vehicle in this game to generate that type of zcoin in less than two years.

Also the npc does not give you a choice between paying in zcoins or reward points, but takes the reward points automatically.

I've noticed something different and funny between the EotN weapons skins available now and when it was available in Dec 19, 08. Anet kept out the Arced Blade sets including the Greater Arced Blade. Gee, I wonder why... ;D

It's a 40% reduction on everything. 18 rp eotn armors would have been 30.

I'm pretty sure the zcoin addition is only meant as a supplement to unlocking with RPs, not a replacement.

The weapon prices are funny:
1 skin for 12 silver = 1.2gold coin = 1.2/15 Heavy Eq bag = 1.2/15*35e = 2.8e = 14k
That's for a basic skin, which you can buy in Kamadan/guru auction for 2-4k.

I would consider buying weapon skin form Tolkano if it was 1 silver coin, not 12 lol.

Nope, if by still being able to select it you mean re-rolling a sin and instantly putting on your unlocked armor. It doesn't work like that, its the same as buying pve armor, its customized to your character. So if you delete that sin you also delete the armor. If you re-roll a sin later on, you would have to go and purchase the armor from tolkano all over again.

Bear in mind that if you have unlocked 50 normal armor pieces to achieve the exotic armor tier, that will always be available.

Weapons on the other hand can be put onto heros and transfered from character to character, which is helpful.

Considering the insane cost, it really doesn't matter.

IMO spending reward points on shitty non-unlocks for a temporary character was dumb and using Zcoins is just as much a self rip-off. Exchange for Zkeys, sell Zkeys, Buy armor for PvE characters that actually lasts.
